Trees that need Cleaning & Thinning

April - 2011

Pruning to Clean is the selective removal of dead, diseased, detached and broken branches. This type of pruning is done to reduce the risk of branches falling from the tree and to reduce the movement of decay, insects, and diseases from dead and dying branches into the rest of the tree. Cleaning is the preferred pruning type for mature trees because it does not remove live branches unnecessarily.

Pruning to Thin is the selective removal of small live branches to reduce crown density. Proper thinning retains crown shape and should provide an even distribution of foliage throughout the crown. Thinning increases sunlight penetration and air movement through the crown. Wood Acres Tree Specialists are trained and experienced in shaping your prized trees.

once we had a big storm and it took a neighbor's limb down. Some "tree" cutters were combing the neighborhood looking for work and we stupidly asked them to finish taking down the hanging limb. Not only did they take it down, it came down on our power line, ripped it from the house (along with our siding) and we now had a live power line in our driveway. They ran off. We had a huge expense fixing the damage. Never again will I use anyone but a certified, trained tree expert who knows what they're doing and does it safely.
